About Doug

Doug was born and raised in the City of Brampton and has resided in the Ward for over 15 years with his wife Debbie and two children; son Jake and daughter Carly.   Doug is a graduate of Humber College and has worked in sales of commercial heating and plumbing products for over 15 years.

Doug’s father, the late Mayor Ken Whillans, and mother Edna both had careers as local school teachers.  Ken served Brampton residents as Alderman, Regional Councillor and eventually as Mayor from 1969 to 1990; while Edna remains active volunteering in the community.

The Honourable Ken Whillans

“My parents strong family values, love for our City and the people who have contributed to its success has led to my sense of community and bond with Brampton.  I have received a lot of satisfaction working with citizens on the Brampton Clean City Committee and local Sports Councils … so it has come naturally to put back in to our City”…  says Doug.

Doug believes that we live in the best country in the world, and the best city in the country.  Though there have been many changes during the 46 years he has lived in Brampton, he sees the growth as positive and believes our future strength lies in our diversity.

Doug’s volunteer efforts, love for our community and genuine concern for its citizens will make it an easy transition to the job as our City Councillor.

“As your City Councillor I will remain open, accessible, honest… and commit to working full time on your behalf… giving the Residents of Wards 2 & 6 the representation you need” … adds Doug.
